Bali, Indonesia; February 2, 2017

Situated in the picturesque village of Manukaya, in close proximity to the vibrant heart of Bali, the Tirta Empul Holy Water Temple is an absolute gem not to be missed. One of the busiest water temples in Indonesia, Tirta Empul is a temple considered sacred by Balinese Hindu community.

I consider myself extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to lead a small group of enthusiastic travelers to this enchanting island. Our time spent exploring the temple was simply not enough to fully immerse ourselves in the profound essence of this sacred place. Nevertheless, every moment we spent there was truly magical. While it typically takes around 40 minutes to traverse the entire temple grounds, I highly recommend allocating more time if you have the luxury.

The temple boasts a plethora of sacred springs, believed to have been created by the divine God Indra, and renowned for their remarkable ability to bestow purification upon those who immerse themselves in their blessed waters. People, regardless of their nationality, flock to Tirta Empul to partake in the purification bathing rituals rooted in Hindu customs. The site boasts two large pools adorned with fountains, each filled with fresh and pristine water.

It is necessary to rent a special sarong for a nominal fee. This traditional garment is an integral part of the bathing ritual, ensuring respect and adherence to the customs practiced at Tirta Empul.
